The Hertfordshire town of St Albans is to launch its first literary festival this autumn. Being Jonathan's hometown it is obviously natural for him to lend his support to the launch of the concept, and he hopes to be involved in the festival itself come November.
To maintain buzz and momentum for Lockwood & Co. Jonathan will be visiting schools and bookshops in the UK outside of normal touring time throughout 2014. As Jonathan explains: "I love regularly going in to schools, it gives me contact with my audience that inspires me and keeps me going when I'm back at my desk writing the next book. I've loved meeting all the young fans this autumn and telling them about Lockwood and I'm really looking forward to doing more events next year."
If you are a school librarian or teacher interested in hosting an event with Jonathan, please get in touch.
Jonathan spent the first half of November travelling around Germany visiting schools, bookshops and literary festivals to introduce Lockwood, Lucy and George to his German fans.
The tour was a resounding success and hugely enjoyable for Jonathan – he travelled around with his 'partners in crime' Marc Langebeck, the chair and master of ceremonies, and Judith Hoersch, an actress who read parts of the book in Lucy's voice. Joined by the team from the German publisher, Random House, Sebastian and Verena, it was a merry team spreading the Lockwood message far and wide.
The events were extraordinary – from an event in a Berlin theatre with 500 school pupils, to a talk in a cathedral in Hamburg, the venues and fans completely exceeded expectations.
